When Alexandra’s mother Tabita called me to inquire for her daughter’s wedding I received what is probably the highest compliment I could imagine to receive. The legendary photographer Eliot Erwitt, who’s famous chihuahua photograph I have hanging in my office (ode to my own pup), had photographed Alex’s parents wedding, so when it came to planning their daughters big day they naturally called him for advise. He went to wpja, found my profile and sent them to my site. I was floored and flattered and I knew I had to be the photographer for this family.
Alexandra and Alexander, yes you read right, Alex and Alex were married at A (bride)’s family church Mary, Star of the Sea, a beautiful spanish architecture chapel in La Jolla CA where she grew up. It was an emotional ceremony to say the least and not a dry eye was present, including mine. Both of their sweet nature combined with adornment was a treasure to photograph, I could put together a whole album with just her sweet expressions and call it my portfolio. Their reception was held at The Darlington House which is a gorgeous private estate with a colorful and lush setting that was perfect for Alex and Alex’s vibrant party. Just as fitting to the familys’ kind hearts, the site is owned and operated by the Social Service League of La Jolla, a non-profit public benefit corporation who provides housing and meal support to seniors in the San Diego area. It’s always an honor to be a part of a wedding, and to this family an extra space is in my heart is dedicated. Congratulations Alex and Alex, I can see your lifetime of sweet smiles and laughter together.
