What does a Documentary Photographer mean? Is this the same as Wedding Photojournalism? Essentially yes but there’s more involved. The difference between a documentary photographer and a photojournalist is that documentary photographers often spend longer amounts of time learning about their subjects, or clients, you. I’m looking to tell your story, whether it’s in a fleeting moment in just one shot or a series of shots that evoke a narrative, quickly and unobtrusively capturing candid moments as they happen and as you and your loved ones experience them, without intervening or directing.
We love your style, but also need traditional family portraits. Can you do this? Yes! Your wedding photography collection would not be complete without them and I ensure (with your planner or with you during our photo timeline consultation) that there is a blocked out time for portraits. I even take the time to help you create your list of most important combinations so no special relationships are missed. On your wedding day I (secretly!) use this time to capture little moments between you and those closest to you, exceeding your wildest expectations for traditional portraits.
What services do you offer in your collections? I am unique in that all of my collections include complete wedding day coverage from my associates and I, with no hourly restrictions. We are there to capture your moments from preparation to your grand exit, last dance (or that break dance routine you never knew your cousin could do).
Why don't you have prices on your website? There are too many factors to address in a simple way. A wedding with 6 people at the courthouse tomorrow is going to be a lot different than 400 people or a destination wedding next year. Call me, tell me about your wedding plans and I will customize a collection with perfection.
Why are price ranges so huge with the different photographers I’ve looked at? As with most professions, experience is what you are paying for along with vision and style. A seasoned wedding photographer (and I emphasize wedding) who has worked with many profiles and cultures in every conceivable lighting situation, and who uses top of the line equipment (and products!) is going to be in higher demand than a photographer still building their portfolio and learning the wedding ropes (or knots, pun intended). It is the difference between expecting great images and hoping for great images, knowing that you’ll be receiving your family heirlooms, and having peace of mind to enjoy your wedding day.
How many photographers should I expect on my wedding day? And do you guarantee your attendance? If you’ve hired me for your wedding day, I will be there camera in hand and ready to capture. Unless your wedding is intimate in size (less then 45 guests), I will always have an associate photographer with me. My associates are a team of amazing photographers (and friends!) who I single handedly select. Though I remain your main shooter, my associate is my second set of eyes. They are my ability to be at two places at once, or shoot two lenses at once, or two angles (you get the drift).
Do you shoot engagement photos? Yes, and I include them in all my collections. I want to spend as much time with you as a couple before the wedding as possible. If distance or time doesn’t allow us to have an engagement session I offer to photograph your rehearsal dinner instead. The closer we become the more comfortable you’ll will be with me during your wedding day and that translates into much more intimate moments being captured.
Do you provide digital files? Yes! After your wedding, you will receive a DVD of your final images, which will also be seen on your secure online gallery.
You haven’t shot at our location yet, is this bad? Not at all! All of my collections include a location walk-through. This allows me to walk the grounds, create a driving route, and ‘check out the light’ so I can capture your moments with ease.
Are you available for travel? Passport check, Airline approved rolling case check, flight insurance check… YES!
Do you offer privacy protection for high profile clients and guests? The majority of my clients are referral based and I am proud to say that I have a %100 satisfied client status. Though I use many wedding images for marketing purposes, I have the utmost respect for the fact that your wedding day is your own intimate story and you may not want to share it with the world. If this is the case just let me know and we will draft an agreement that preserves your privacy. I am honored to document your life’s milestones and I do so with compassion.
I’m sold, How do we hire you!? This is the easy part!
Contact me here with your wedding date (lets double check that I’m still available) and we can either schedule a time to meet in person or chat on the phone about your details. Now that you’ve learned all about me, I want to hear about you (and your wedding of course). I’ll provide you with an agreement for us to sign, you’ll pay a retaining fee, and you can count me in for your wedding journey.
